Author: Abhishek Kumar

ABSTRACT
The growth rate of an economy is directly related to exports. If exports increase at a faster
rate as compared to imports, nothing can stop an economy to be a developed one. India's
economy has performed well in recent years after the country began to open in 1991. This
research paper will be a yard stick for the scientific instruments exports enterprises in order to
identify the important determinants of their export competitiveness. The scientific
instruments industry of Ambala Cluster is taken as sample of the research study. Factor
conditions, demand conditions, firm strategy, firm’s structure and rivalry, related and
supporting industries and government are considered the determinants of this study. All the
Variables of export competitiveness have positive impact on the export competitiveness. This
study suggests the various strategies and advantages of competiveness in the exports of
scientific instruments. This paper is an attempt to develop a model in order to answer the
research questions based on growth of exports and economic performance of scientific
instruments industry in India. The findings of the study will provide an insight for improving
the competitive structure of the export clusters in developing countries like India.

AN OVERVIEW OF NON-PERFORMING ASSETS IN INDIAN BANKS AND THEIR RECOVERY MECHANISMS
Author: Amit M

ABSTRACT
Indian banking sector has been facing problems on raising Non- Performing Assets. The
profitability of the banks are influenced by increase of Non- Performing Assets. A ‘NonPerforming Asset’ was defined as a credit facility in respect of which the interest and/ or
instalment of principal has remained ‘past due’ for a specified period of time. Narasimham
Committee mandated that identification and reduction of NPAs to be treated as a national
priority because Non-Performing Assets direct toward credit risk that bank faces and its
efficiency in allocating resources. The recommendations of various committees like
Narasimham committee and Verma committee, are suggested some steps to solve the
problem of NPAs in the balance sheets of the banks. As per RBI reports Gross NPAs to
Gross Advances Ratio is high in case of IDBI Bank Limited is high among public sector
banks in the year 2018. The main objectives of the this paper is to study the status of NPA in
public sector and private sector banks and its management.

FINANCING PATTERNS AND INSTITUTIONAL PERFORMANCE IN INDIAN HIGHER EDUCATION: AN ECONOMETRIC ANALYSIS
Author: Ajaypal Singh

ABSTRACT:
This study investigates the relationship between financing patterns and institutional
performance in Indian higher education institutions (HEIs) from 2005 to 2015. Employing a
fixed-effects panel regression model on data from 102 HEIs drawn from the All India Survey
on Higher Education (AISHE), the study examines how government grants, tuition revenue,
and private endowments influence key performance indicators—graduation rate, student–
faculty ratio, and research output. The analysis reveals that government funding and private
endowments have a significantly positive impact on institutional performance, while overreliance on tuition revenue is associated with resource strain, particularly in faculty staffing.
Notably, private endowments exhibit the highest marginal impact on research productivity,
and a statistically significant interaction between public and private funding suggests that a
blended financing model yields optimal outcomes. These findings contribute to the limited
body of empirical research on Indian higher education financing and offer strategic insights
for policymakers, advocating a shift toward hybrid funding structures. The study bridges a
critical literature gap by applying econometric methods to assess the causal dynamics
between financial sources and institutional effectiveness over time. It also emphasizes the
importance of diversifying funding streams to balance access, quality, and sustainability in
higher education. The results have implications for national policy, especially in the context
of performance-based funding models under India’s evolving education reforms.
Keywords: Higher education financing, institutional performance, fixed-effects regression,
Indian universities, public grants, private endowments
